IAE Conservation Ecology Research Group

Leader of the research group:
Profile of the group:

• impact of habitat restoration and conservation management on arthropod and vertebrate animal community organization and structure in lowland open wetlands and grasslands
• the role of habitat diversity in community organization and ecosystem restoration, study of landscape-level patterns in biodiversity, detection and disarming of ecological traps
• theory and practice of biodiversity monitoring, scale-dependence of conservation strategies, spatial conservation prioritization at European (EU) and regional (Balkan peninsula) levels and on the Tisza river catchment
• geographic distribution, life history, habitat choice, reproductive success and population biological parameters of animal species of conservation importance, model species: Long-tailed Mayfly (Palingenia longicauda), Fire-bellied Toad (Bombina bombina), Greek Meadow Viper (Vipera graeca), Great Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus), European Roller (Coracias garrulus), Red-footed Falcon (Falco vespertinus), Hooded Crow (Corvus cornix)
